During the walk we saw traditional systems like the pulley well used to draw water and the local method of storing gehu (wheat) safely inside the houses. We met Sarvesh Ji, who shared insights about the lifestyle and traditions of the village. In this journey, Alok Ji from Agora Eco Tourism helped us explore the village and understand the local culture. Surrounded by forests and hills, this spiritual place is an important site for devotees and travelers visiting Jashpur. Khudiya Rani - the local deity of the Korwa tribe. The Korwa community is widely found across Jashpur, Surguja, Balrampur, and Korba. To reach the temple, one needs to get down 400 stairs. Ended our day Date of Journey - 1st Feb 2026 Deshdekha View Point - The next morning we started our day with a visit to Deshdekha View Point, a scenic hilltop location that offers almost 180-degree panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. From here you can see distant hills including Madheshwar Pahad and vast green forests. Jashpur is also located close to neighboring states. Ranchi (Jharkhand) – around 160 km, Rourkela (Odisha) – around 200 km Dhooska - After enjoying the view, Ravi Ji, who helped us explore Deshdekha, arranged a traditional breakfast. We tried Dhuska, a popular snack in Jharkhand and also loved in Chhattisgarh, served with unique Mahua tea. Later we returned to Jashpur town to explore the different products made from Mahua. While Mahua is often known for traditional drinks, it is also used to make Mahua cookies, Mahua nectar, and Mahua tea. Sarudih Tea Estate - We then visited the beautiful Sarudih Tea Estate. Interestingly, about 15 years ago there were no tea plantations in Jashpur, but today tea farming has become a growing attraction. The estate is open for visitors all week and tourists can also buy locally produced tea here. Lunch - Mahua Homestay - Ravi ji arranged the tribal lunch at this homestay Aloo Sem ki Bhaji, Sukthi, Lal Bhaji, Brahmi Leaf Chutney, After lunch we headed to Mayali Dam, a scenic spot surrounded by hills and forests. The peaceful water body and boating activities make it a relaxing place for visitors. Our final stop was the historic Jashpur Palace, where we had the opportunity to meet Raja Ranvijay Singh Judeo and his son. Jashpur was once a princely state before India’s independence, and the royal family continues to preserve its rich heritage. With this visit, we concluded our journey in North Chhattisgarh.
