CCTV footage shows guests walking through the Royal Park Banquet Hall just seconds before the attack. The gunman then approached the 88-year-old from behind and fired at point-blank range. Abdullah's Z-plus National Security Guard protection team, alongside officers from Jammu and Kashmir Police, reacted instantly, deflecting the shot and subduing the attacker. While Abdullah escaped unharmed, Surinder Choudhary, the deputy chief minister, reportedly sustained minor injuries from bullet fragments. Authorities later identified the assailant as Kamal Singh Jamwal, 63, from Purani Mandi in Jammu, who used his own licensed firearm. Kamal said: 'I wanted to kill Farooq Abdullah for the last 20 years. It was my personal agenda. I tried today, but it didn't happen. The weapon is my personal weapon, and it has been issued to me.'
