1 cup butter
1 cup cream cheese
1 cup white sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup caramel bits
More caramel for drizzling
Cream together the butter, cream cheese and white sugar.
Blend in egg and vanilla
Stir in flour, baking soda and salt.
Stir in caramel bits
Scoop out dough into balls and place on cookie sheet
Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes until golden on edges.
Allow to cool, remove to wire rack.
Drizzle with caramel if desired.
Here is the recipe that I used to make the copycat version:
12 ounces cream cheese, cubed
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 egg, plus 1 egg yolk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups flour
Caramel for drizzling
Melted chocolate for drizzling
finely chopped pecans or walnuts for decorating
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F
Combine the cream cheese and powdered sugar, mixing until smooth, cover and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar .
Add in the egg, the egg yolk, vanilla, baking soda, and salt.
Add in the flour, mixing until combined.

Bake for about 12-15 minutes until edges are light brown.
