Video Description

The first time I drove into Left Hall after Hurricane Melissa, all we saw was devastation. This time, we came back with materials, documents, and something even more important β€” hope and identity! ***README*** πŸ™ Support our GoFundMe effort to get emergency supplies to Left Hall in Beeston Spring now: https://gofund.me/e40ba5d2f. πŸ™Learn More about our foundation and how you can partner here: https://www.MyIslandJamaicaFoundation.org πŸ™ If you, or someone you know is able to donate supplies, including plywood and zinc sheets, or get them some cover in the interim, please reach out to me at 876-825-2237 πŸ™ Be sure to watch the FULL video of the impact of Hurricane Melissa on them here: https://youtu.be/INT-VL4bt9U?sub_confirmation=1 πŸ‘€ WHAT'S IN THIS VIDEO? The first time I drove into Left Hall and Beeston Spring in Westmoreland after Hurricane Melissa, all we saw was devastation. Homes were torn apart, zinc sheets scattered, and many residents had lost not only their shelter but also vital documents like birth certificates and passports. This time, we returned differently. In this video, we travel back up into the hills β€” picking up plywood, zinc sheets, and water drums from the hardware in Whitehouse and delivering them along the road wherever we meet residents. Some meet us on the lower part of the hill, others further up, but wherever we find them, we stop. Along the way we also deliver birth certificates collected from the Registrar General’s Department (RGD) for residents who lost their documents during the hurricane. That process began on New Year’s Day, when fellow Justices of the Peace, representatives from PICA, and officers from RGD joined us in the community to help residents begin replacing their lost paperwork. We also carried food and toiletries sent with love from generous donors. This video captures another step in that journey β€” not a big event, but a simple road through the hills, stopping wherever we meet someone who still needs help. The work is not finished yet. Many families are still rebuilding. But one thing is certain. The first visit was devastation. This time was different.
