Video Description
The Microsoft Education Solutions Guide (ESG) is a set of prescriptive guidelines designed specifically for education customers and organizations. Think of it as your step-by-step blueprint for deploying Microsoft services in an education environment. ESG provides IT administrators and education professionals with best practices, step-by-step deployment guidance for K-12 schools, districts, and higher education institutions, best practices for tenant configuration based on your license level, recommended settings and security configurations, proven configurations, partner connections, and expert recommendations – all tailored to meet the unique needs of schools, colleges, and universities.
The guide is structured around three strategic stages: Deployment Guides, Discovery and Assessments powered by AI – coming soon, and Drift Management for ongoing change monitoring – also coming soon. Today, we'll focus on the deployment guides that are available right now.
1. Tenant Setup – Configure your base tenant, including sign-up, network settings, global administrators, and core services.
2. Identity – Establish your identity architecture with on-premises sync, School Data Sync, and student information system integration.
3. Applications – Configure Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Exchange Online, and other education-focused apps.
4. Security and Compliance – Define and implement security configurations appropriate for your license level, from malware protection to advanced threat detection.
5. Devices – Manage both mobile devices and applications through Intune for Education, covering both managed and unmanaged scenarios.
