In September I hiked the Alta Via 1 in the Dolomites of Italy, a 75 mile (120 km) hut to hut trek from Lago di Braies to Belluno through alpine passes, limestone peaks, turquoise lakes, and pine forests. Alta Via 1 is one of the most iconic hikes in the Dolomites, linking a network of mountain rifugios where hikers eat, sleep, and continue across the mountains each day.
