For a long time, many people have requested that I design a civilian aircraft for 3D printing. While working on the Shuttle Carrier, I decided to create a civilian version of the Boeing 747, which serves as its base model. The question was—which airline should I base it on? While researching, I found a representative version featuring markings from several airlines that had operated the Boeing 747. So, I chose to design that distinctive color scheme.
Tiny logos and text details were omitted, but I designed the parts so that the colors could be separated and assembled individually. Compared to standard airline liveries, this one is much more vibrant, resulting in a rich and satisfying print. I’m especially pleased with how the metallic gloss on the wings turned out.
I hope this model brings great enjoyment to everyone who has long been waiting for a civilian aircraft design from me.
The assembly process is simple and straightforward — just by watching the video, you’ll easily be able to print and assemble it yourself!
This model is based on the Boeing 747 prototype as displayed, not a production aircraft, and is designed to be fully 3D printable without off-the-shelf parts.
