Today I’m sharing a super delicious and creamy Umm Ali recipe, a traditional Egyptian dessert that is rich, soft, and full of flavor.
This easy Umm Ali is made with simple ingredients and comes out perfectly creamy from inside with a slightly golden top. If you love desserts like bread pudding, then you will absolutely enjoy this!

Ingredients:
Lachcha semai (vermicelli) – 1 cup
Milk – 1 to 1½ cups
Milk powder – ½ cup
Sugar – ½ cup
Vanilla essence – ½ teaspoon
Nestlé canned cream – 170 g
Condensed milk – ¼ cup
Nuts, raisins, and desiccated coconut – as desired
Notes:
- Since lachcha semai is usually pre-roasted, I didn’t fry it separately.
However, if you prefer, you can lightly fry it with a little ghee.
- For the milk syrup, I used 1 cup of milk, which keeps the dessert slightly firm
and allows it to be served in slices.
- If you want a softer, creamier texture, you can add an extra 1 cup of heavy cream.
This will make the dessert richer and more moist.
