Video Description
In this final part of the Louis LePrince archive series, we step away from speculation… and into structure.
The missing suitcase.
The possibility of debt, payment, or disappearance by necessity.
From there, the trail splits.
Was Louis helped off the record, taken in by a farmer and cared for beyond the reach of official documents?
Or was he left behind, robbed, disoriented, and lost somewhere between stations and small towns along the line?
We follow both paths.
We take a closer look at Uncle Adolphe, a man who would not leave a single stone unturned, and ask the question:
why is he not in Paris?
We enter the system of French death records, where even the unknown were carefully documented.
The “inconnu” — the unidentified.
Detailed descriptions.
Clothing.
Scars.
Height.
If Louis was found… he may still be there.
And yet, one major problem remains:
the body found in the Seine does not appear where we would expect it.
So we go further.
Into the Paris Morgue.
A place where the unknown were not hidden, but displayed — in the hope that someone, somewhere, would recognize them.

This is where the search changes.
Because if Louis was never found…
then neither were many others.
And if we are going to walk this trail again,
we will not walk it for one man alone.
We will follow the inconnu.
And maybe… bring someone home.
