Just before the Cycle Messenger World Championship in Sydney last November I spent the morning with https://www.instagram.com/kocher.claudio/ at work. It was our first time meeting and hearing his story of becoming a messenger reminded me of my own start in 2004. The next day I sat down and recorded an interview with him which you can hear parts of underneath the riding footage. The messenger scene may have shrunk but those still doing it keep the spirit alive and are really good at what they do. We don't get to see much of Claudio's speed or fitness on a Monday morning as he has a small circuit and is mostly carrying flowers in glass vases, but he's one of the quickest street riders in the city. After this he went on to win the cargo race at the CMWC as well as come fourth in the main race, racing on his cargo bike. And yes they call them pushbikes in Australia, don't ask me why!?
