Fusion Raid Day in Pokémon GO was supposed to be one of the most exciting raid events of the season, but instead it exposed some major problems that need to be addressed. In this video, we break down why Fusion Raid Day felt frustrating, inefficient, and poorly optimized for players trying to maximize Kyurem Fusion Energy, shiny chances, and raid productivity. One of the biggest issues with Fusion Raid Day was the decision to have Reshiram and Zekrom take up nearly 50% of available gym spawns. While these are popular legendary Pokémon, their heavy presence directly conflicted with the core goal of the event: farming Fusion Energy efficiently. Every gym occupied by Reshiram or Zekrom reduced the number of White Kyurem and Black Kyurem raids available, forcing players to waste time traveling, waiting, or skipping gyms entirely. Another major problem was the extremely low catch rates for Kyurem forms. Instead of feeling rewarding, post-raid catch encounters became time sinks. Players were forced to spend several minutes per raid throwing multiple Golden Razz Berries and excellent throws, only to see the Pokémon flee. Over the course of a three-hour event, those extra minutes add up fast and significantly reduce the total number of raids players can complete. Shiny rates were another point of frustration. Fusion Raid Day heavily implied boosted shiny odds, yet many players reported raid streaks with zero shinies across dozens of raids. Whether the shiny rate was truly boosted or not, the lack of transparency created disappointment and confusion. Raid Days are typically associated with clearly boosted shiny chances, and when expectations don’t match reality, player trust takes a hit.
