MASTER COOKBOOK RECIPE #52 CORNED BEEF AND CABBAGE
Ingredients and Instructions:
52) Corned Beef and Cabbage
Corned beef with seasoning packet
3 cups water
1 Tbsp beef bouillon granules
black pepper
6-8 small new potatoes
onion, peeled and cubed
5 carrots, peeled and sliced
half a head of cabbage
Mix the bouillon with 3 cups of warm water. Wash the cabbage and slice it into 1-inch-wide strips. Note: Salting is not necessary because bouillon is salty. Add the meat, bouillon, water, seasoning packet, onion, and enough additional water to cover the beef completely.
Crockpot: Cook on low for 7 hours. Then add potatoes and carrots, sprinkle with black pepper, and cook on high for 2 hours. Add the cabbage, sprinkle with black pepper, and cook until both the cabbage and vegetables are tender.
Saucepan: Follow the exact instructions as above. Cooking time may vary depending on when the meat becomes tender enough to be fork-tender. Cook the meat on low heat; avoid boiling, as this can cause it to become tough. Once meat is tender add vegetables and cook until fork tender.
Braiser: This method has the fastest cooking time! The braiser should have a heavy lid without a vent to keep all the moisture inside. Follow the exact instructions as above. The beef and vegetables will become tender quicker with this method of cooking.
