In today’s video, we break down one of the most revealing moments from the Kouri Richins trial, her recorded phone call to the medical examiner after Eric Richins’ death. What should have sounded like a grieving spouse seeking answers instead comes across, at least to many viewers, like someone fishing for very specific information about toxicology, fentanyl, ingestion, and whether the evidence could point in another direction.
Kouri Richins is accused of poisoning her husband, Eric Richins, with a fentanyl-laced Moscow mule in March 2022. Prosecutors allege this was a calculated murder tied to money problems, marital issues, and an affair. In this call, jurors heard Kouri ask pointed questions about fentanyl levels, stomach contents, alcohol, metabolites, and whether the toxicology report could reveal how the drugs entered Eric’s system.
In this video, I react to the call, break down why prosecutors believe it matters, and share my thoughts on what Kouri’s questions may reveal about her mindset. We also talk about how this evidence fits into the larger case the state is building and why this phone call may be one more piece of a much bigger puzzle.
If you’ve been following the Kouri Richins trial, this is one of those moments that really makes you stop, blink twice, and clutch your emotional support Cheez-Its.
