In this video, I’m taking you behind the scenes of an underwater-inspired studio shoot - without using any water.
I’ll walk you through how I created this look using a very simple lighting setup, mylar, and a lot of experimentation. This shoot was all about problem-solving in real time, making small adjustments, and letting the setup evolve instead of forcing a perfect result right away.
You’ll see how I used light, reflection, and movement to create water-like effects in a studio environment, how the look changed as I adjusted angles and distances, and why trial and error is such an important part of the creative process - especially when you’re trying something new.
This video isn’t a strict step-by-step tutorial. It’s an honest look at how a concept comes together on set, what didn’t work at first, and how experimenting with light can completely transform a space.
If you’re interested in studio lighting, creative experimentation, or finding new ways to push your work without overcomplicating your setup, I hope this gives you some inspiration.
