In this one, I have a conversation with Bob Robertson, the author of a recent book, The Stoic Habit: How to Own Your Choices, Even When It’s Difficult (Cider Mill Press. 2026). We discuss a number of matters, some of which arise from and are discussed in his book, for example why the virtues are so central to Stoicism and how virtues are developed through habits and routines, why relationships are not just externals or indifferents for Stoics, and what the concept of "ownership" has to contribute to a contemporary interpretation of Stoicism. We also discuss and compare our experiences teaching philosophy to inmate students within prison systems. If you'd like to support my work producing videos like this, become a Patreon supporter!
