Fiber Glass Pen

This time, I’m restoring an antique watchmaker’s tool. I bought this old flat grinder at a flea market several years ago for just $2. The seller had a pile of rusty tools and other old items that he was selling as “decorative objects.” I immediately knew it would make a great restoration project one day, so I put it in a drawer of my watchmaking bench and almost forgot about it. At the end of last year, while replacing my old workbench with a new one, I came across the flat grinder again. That felt like the right moment to finally restore it. The threads of the screws don’t match any modern metric or imperial standard, which suggests that this tool is quite old. For that reason, it was important to preserve the original screws. Replacing them would not only have been difficult, but likely impossible without altering the tool. Luckily, I recently became the proud owner of an xTool F2 Ultra.
