Not only do they give me serious Rolex "Paul Newman" Daytona and classic Omega Speedmaster vibes, but the low price point, the way they were introduced with little to no fanfare and the limited way in which they are sold, all makes me wonder if the hype and upmarket aspirations of Seiko are over? Is Seiko finally back? Is this the start of a new glorious age of underrated and lovable gems or just a bizarre fluke aimed at being a cheaper MoonSwatch alternative? In this video I review the Seiko SSB477 and SSB479 including the positives, negatives, design, and historical significance of these new releases.
