After years of wanting one, I finally decided it was time. Living in North Georgia, with Lake Lanier right in my backyard, the idea of having a boat has always been the dream. Cruise around, take the dogs out, enjoy the water… simple, right? Well… about four years ago I tried that. Paid someone to fix up a boat… and they disappeared. So naturally, I figured I’d try again. Because what could possibly go wrong the second time? This time, I went all in on a classic: a Chris-Craft. Found one on Marketplace, threw out a “whatever it is, I’ll take it” offer… and somehow, it worked. And that’s where things started going downhill. What showed up was… rough. Really rough. A $500 boat that hadn’t seen water since 2009, growing its own ecosystem, buried in the dirt, and held together by optimism. But hey, we’ve done worse, right? We aired up the tires, dragged it out of the woods, and somehow got it back to the shop. That’s when the real inspection started… and the dream started turning into a nightmare. Rotten floors Destroyed interior Water everywhere And an engine that is VERY not okay Turns out, when a boat isn’t winterized, things don’t just break… they explode. Cracked manifolds, blown freeze plugs, and a motor that is almost certainly done for. At this point, it’s not one problem… it’s all of them. And that leaves us with the big question… Do we save it? Do we LS swap it? Or do we admit defeat and send it down the river? Because sometimes… even in the Questionable Garage… you have to know when a dream just isn’t worth chasing. But if you guys want to see this thing come back to life, you know what to do. #ChrisCraft #BoatProject #MarketplaceFind #ProjectCar #BoatLife #BadDecisions #BudgetBuild #RestorationFail #LakeLife #QuestionableGarage ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Questions?
