Today we're doing something a little different while my knee is still on light duty… we're building an actual running engine on the workbench. This little kit is a fully functional four-stroke model engine complete with pistons, camshaft, valves, timing belt, and carburetor. Once assembled, it can spin up to 14,000 RPM and actually run like a real engine. While putting it together we walk through how real engines work: • Pistons and crankshafts • Valve timing and camshafts • Intake, compression, power, and exhaust strokes • Carburetors and ignition systems To make things even harder, I decided to try the gasoline ignition conversion kit instead of the normal nitro setup, which definitely made the first startup… interesting. In the end though, we got it running. And honestly… it might be one of the coolest little engines I’ve ever seen. If you want to check out these engine kits, links are in the description.
