Kalimpong surprised us in the best possible way. From the moment we arrived, it wasn’t the places that stayed with us - it was the people. Their warmth, generosity, and quiet pride in this small hill town set the tone for everything that followed. We spent our time wandering slowly - visiting the Gangjong paper factory, the last of its kind in the region, where handmade paper is still crafted with patience and care. We ate unforgettable meals at Nima Restaurant, Cloud 9, and Art Café, explored the Kalimpong Haat, and found a moment of stillness at the Buddha Pada Institute. We may have missed many of Kalimpong’s “must-see” spots, but it never felt like we missed out. The love we received from the people we met was more than enough - and a perfect beginning to our journey through the Eastern Himalayas.
