What began as a conflict involving children playing outside escalated into one of the most controversial true crime cases in recent years. According to investigators, Owens went to Lorincz’s home after an altercation involving her children and Lorincz. As Owens stood outside the house, Lorincz fired a single shot through a locked front door, striking Owens in the chest while her young son stood beside her. Owens later died at the hospital.
