The yard had some muddy areas and uneven ground, but after grading and power raking it came out great and is now ready for seed. But this video isn’t just about fixing a yard. When I got home I talked about a decision I made at the end of 2025 — I let my CPA license lapse. Becoming a CPA took me about 14 months of studying while working full time, passing four difficult exams, and spending roughly $3,000–$4,000 on the process. For a lot of accountants, that license leads to $20,000–$25,000 higher annual income and a stable career path. But I realized something. If YouTube disappeared tomorrow, I wouldn’t go back to sitting in a cubicle doing accounting. I’d rather run equipment, work outdoors, and build a business around things like firewood, landscaping, and excavation. So in a way, letting the license lapse was my version of “burning the boats.” The idea comes from the story of Hernán Cortés destroying his ships so his men had no option to retreat. Sometimes the only way to fully commit to a path is to remove the safety net. The average YouTube channel only lasts 5–7 years, so maybe this decision is risky… but it’s the path I’ve chosen.
