What started as a few inches quickly turned into nearly a foot of snow, and tomorrow our martial arts school is scheduled to march in a parade. It would be easy to cancel, stay home, and wait for better conditions. But moments like this reveal something important about human nature: the difference between comfort and resilience. History, psychology, and even survival studies show that people who mentally give up often decline rapidly. In extreme situations researchers have observed stages that begin with withdrawal and apathy and can end in something called psychogenic death — when a person simply loses the will to continue. On the other hand, people who maintain purpose, responsibility, and forward motion tend to endure incredible hardship. From explorers stranded in Antarctica to survivors of plane crashes in the Andes, the common thread among survivors is simple: they refused to quit. I see the same thing in martial arts all the time. Students sometimes have that little voice in their head telling them to stay home, especially on cold or difficult days. But when they push through and come to class anyway, they almost always say the same thing afterward: “I’m glad I came.” Human beings were not built for comfort alone. We were built for challenge, growth, and perseverance. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do in life is simply keep showing up. ________________________________________ If our content has helped you in any way, consider buying us a cup of coffee… Thanks! https://buymeacoffee.com/goshenprepping Attention all Preppers and Patriots… We must all prepare for what’s coming… Our channel is dedicated to getting you ready!
