Get $10 off your first Poncho order when you enter your email at https://poncho.yt.link/cXgQbaS In this video, Nicky and I take a "sneaker weekend" to Central Oregon to kick off the 2026 hiking season. We’re staying at the Solar Lookout near Terrebonne, a stunning off-grid Airbnb that was originally built as a private residence inspired by Pacific Northwest fire lookouts. As a framer, I was blown away by the architectural details of this 20x20 structure. We take a deep dive into the heavy timber construction, featuring reclaimed beams, a center column support system, and a massive 5-foot cantilevered deck that wraps around the entire building. From the Rockwool insulation to the reclaimed Navy base flooring, this "sanctuary" is a masterclass in sustainable building and repurposed materials. We also head out to Smith Rock State Park to hike the iconic Misery Ridge Trail. With views of Monkey Face, Mt. Jefferson, and Mt. Bachelor, it was the perfect 74-degree day to test out some hiking gear and talk photography. We spent a weekend at a refurbished fire lookout, experiencing a unique form of remote living. This small cabin offers incredible views of the mountains, reminding us of the importance of fire management and nature conservation. It's a truly special place that highlights the beauty of the outdoors. #framing #framer
