3X4 Buffing Pads

In this video I’m restoring a late 1800's Eastlake dresser and uncovering the solid walnut hiding underneath. My neighbour offered me this piece while clearing out her mom’s house, not realizing it was an antique Eastlake dresser from roughly 1870–1890. In a previous video, I restored the matching washstand and discovered solid walnut beneath the paint, so this time, I’m carefully stripping the dresser, cleaning up the carved details, appreciating the hand cut dovetails, and finishing it with a hard-wax oil for a historically appropriate look. This isn’t one of those perfectly satisfying paint-peel moments. It’s the real restoration process…chemical stripper, lots of sanding, patience, and decisions to make about what to restore and what to leave as patina. The goal isn’t to make it look brand new. It’s to respect its history and return it to the family it came from.
