For example, this month, Windows updates were released on March 10th, 2026 but the ISO image download wasn't updated with these latest updates slipstreamed until March 19, 2026. However, the Media Creation Tool included the latest updates on or shortly after March 10, 2026. ---- Is there any way to tell what version of Windows 11 is on the installation media you have now or to verify the versions of the ISO files you downloaded? Yes! Open the Command Prompt as an Administrator. With your installation media plugged in or mounted (as drive D: in this example, you may have to adjust to your Windows installation media's drive letter if different): DISM /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:"D:\sources\install.wim" /index:6 Your build and version number of the ISO/install media will be displayed.
