Chop dates, pour over boiling water, stir in bicarbonate of soda and leave 5–10 min to soften. 2. Blend date mixture with egg + melted butter until mostly smooth. 3. Stir in flour + baking powder. Add a splash of milk if the batter is very thick (should be like thick cake batter). 4. Spoon into greased ramekins (¾ full). 5.
