In today’s episode of “Professional Operation… with Occasional Humbling Reality Checks,” I set out to haul a manlift like the highly prepared, detail-oriented professional you all assume I am. Spoiler alert: I was not. Turns out, showing up without the right equipment to load said manlift that had been sitting for a month is not the industry standard. Who knew? Minor oversight. Tiny detail. Basically irrelevant… until it wasn’t. So after carefully evaluating my options (staring at it, pacing around it, and pretending I had a plan), I did what any self-respecting operator would do—I swallowed my pride and made the call. That’s right. I called a competitor… who unfortunately is also a good friend… which means I will never hear the end of this. Ever. Watch as he shows up fully prepared, effortlessly does in 10 minutes what I definitely could have done in 3 hours (if I had the right equipment… and less dignity), and politely pretends not to enjoy it.
