Quilter Aviator Cub UK 112 Combo
Published: March 26, 2026
Video Description
In this video, I am putting the Quilter Aviator Cub UK through its paces to see if this 50-watt solid-state powerhouse can truly capture the essence of iconic British amplifiers. Weighing in at only 10kg, this amp is a lifesaver for gigging musicians in Australia and beyond, but the real question is how it sounds compared to the real deal.
I have broken the review down into four main categories: Clean, Blues, Crunch, and High Gain. We start with a full backing track demo using the Direct Line Output and Impulse Response (IR) to show how the amp sits in a professional mix. From there, we dive into the three unique British voicings: the AC Normal, the AC Top Boost, and the JMP.
One of the standout features we explore is the active 3-band EQ and the unique Limiter control. The Limiter is a critical tool for shaping the "feel" and compression of the amp, and I demonstrate exactly how it reacts when you push the gain to its limits. Whether you are a Stratocaster player looking for that classic chime or a Les Paul player chasing a high-gain roar, this video covers every tonal corner of this unit.
I also spend significant time testing how the Cub UK handles pedals. As a dedicated pedal platform, it has a distinct "British" character that interacts differently with your overdrives than a standard American-voiced amp. I’ll share my honest critiques on the JMP channel and how this unit compares to its sibling, the Aviator Cub US.
