I traveled to Munnar, Kerala, where endless green hills are covered in tea as far as the eye can see. But behind that beauty is a world most people never get to see. What I discovered: - 8,000–10,000 women pluck every tea leaf by hand, one by one, all day long - The world's highest tea plantation sits at 7,000+ feet above sea level - Workers carry 27 kg bags of leaves after a full day in the fields - Entire families live in single-room quarters - for as little as ₹300 a day, no sick days, no exceptions I walked through the farms with them, sat with them during lunch on a hillside, and was invited into their homes - where they served me chai made from the very leaves they had just plucked. Munnar is stunning. But its people are what will stay with me forever. This is the real story behind every cup of chai you have ever had. Could you do this job for even one day?
