I Carved a sculpture out of Calacatta Marble and epoxy or the first time ever of a female torso. I was inspired by the roman sculptor greats and loved the challenge of trying something new. #marble #carving #sculpting

This female torso sculpture measures 24” tall, 14” wide, and 9” thick, and weighs a staggering 76 pounds. It is carved from a stunning block of Italian Calacatta marble, paired with over 6 gallons of crystal-clear epoxy resin. The marble itself is incredible, featuring beautiful grey, brown, and gold streaking veins running naturally throughout the stone.
This piece is a major milestone for me, as it was my very first time carving stone. The physical challenge of learning to shape the marble made the process incredibly rewarding. The contrast between the classic stone and the modern clear epoxy makes this piece truly one of a kind, and it has quickly become one of my favorite sculptures to date. It is safe to say I will be carving a lot more marble in the future.
