Not only that, all new SUVs in 2026 are seemingly coming with smaller displacement motors, turbocharged and hybridized. What ever happened to simplistic, reliable naturally aspirated engines? Engines that are built to LAST. Thanks to the EPA and other affiliated government restrictions, all auto manufacturers have shifted to making smaller engines and offering "more fuel efficient" options. All at the cost of longevity. My 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro here is the last of its kind. It's simple, reliable and was affordable. Much better than the new 2025-2026 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. Sporting a naturally aspirated 4.0L V6, this SUV only puts out 270 HP and 278 Torque. It's not fast. But that's NOT why you buy an off-road Toyota SUV. You buy them for the peace of mind they offer. The performance numbers are irrelevant, so long as it does what 9/10 people need -and it did! Tows around 5,000 lbs, which is perfect for most folks. It'll ALWAYS start for you, and offer minimal headache over 250K+ miles. That is very rare these days. In this video I provide my ownership experience with my 5th gen Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro here.
