So, I’m taking my 12-year-old Trek X-Caliber 8—complete with its "obsolete" geometry and 3x9 SRAM drivetrain—and giving it a modern "Upgrade". The Build: Drivetrain: Full Shimano CUES 1x11 Speed conversion. Cockpit: Wider handlebars for better control. Tires: Fresh rubber to actually keep me upright (hopefully). The bike industry says this frame is "outdated" and the geometry is "dead." But as someone who’s just here for the fun (and likely to fall anyway), is the new Shimano CUES enough to make this bike relevant again?
