Video Description
New Swedish research from the Karolinska Institute suggests that eating more unprocessed meat may significantly reduce Alzheimer's risk in people carrying the APOE4 or APOE3/4 gene variants — cutting dementia risk by more than half in the highest meat-eating group.

A large longitudinal study from the Karolinska Institute followed over 2,000 Swedish adults for 15 years and found that high unprocessed meat consumption was associated with a dramatic reduction in Alzheimer's risk but specifically in people carrying the APOE4 or APOE3/4 genetic variants. For this group, eating around 125g of meat per day brought their elevated genetic risk down to the level of the general population.
In this video I break down the study design, the key findings, the proposed biological mechanisms, and what it might mean practically. I also cover the important caveats: this is epidemiological data, the benefits were only seen in the top quintile of meat eaters, and processed meats were harmful across all genotypes.
If you carry APOE4, which affects roughly 22–28% of the population, this study raises important questions about whether standard dietary guidelines are right for you.
