We hope that the impending lockout that will likely happen in December will be late as well. I'd say avoided, but chances of that happening are pretty slim. Meanwhile, another season on the diamond has begun: Thirty teams take part in the festivities of Major League Baseball, each with different goals, ambitions, and vices. The long grind of 162 games will test teams in every conceivable fashion, including curveballs that few expected. Yet this year will begin the age of ABS. Balls and strikes can be challenged, thus preventing potential umpball from striking at the worst possible moments. With the establishment of the pitch clock, as well as elite pitchers emerging (and fading) with rapid speed, we are in a new age of baseball.
