It looks like the golden era of "free for everyone" is officially over. As of February 1, 2026, Capital One has overhauled the lounge access rules for the Venture X card. If you’ve been coasting on those complimentary guest passes or free authorized user (AU) access, your next airport visit might come with a side of "sticker shock." In this video, I’ll break down exactly what changed, who is most affected (hint: families), and the one "big spender" loophole that can still get you free guests. 🛑 What Changed on February 1st? The days of bringing your entire travel squad into the lounge for free are gone. Here’s the breakdown of the new fee structure: Authorized Users: No longer free for lounge access. Primary cardholders must now pay a $125 annual fee per AU (up to 4) to grant them access to Capital One Lounges and Priority Pass. Capital One Lounge Guests: Unless you meet the spend requirement, guests now cost $45 per adult and $25 per child (ages 2–17). Priority Pass Guests: On the personal Venture X, there are no more free guests. Every guest will now cost $35 per visit. 💰 The $75,000 "Loophole" If you are a high spender, you can bypass the guest fees—but only for Capital One’s own lounges. If you spend $75,000+ in a calendar year on your Venture X: a. You unlock 2 free guests per visit at Capital One Lounges. b. You unlock 1 free guest at Capital One Landings. This benefit lasts for the remainder of the current year and the following calendar year. Warning: Even if you hit the $75k spend, you still have to pay the $35 fee for guests at Priority Pass lounges.
