It can lead to completely mental positions which not many humans can completely understand. White has 11 (!) different ways of fighting the Najdorf and I will cover each in a separate video. Today we're covering the English Attack, white's most common and most aggressive setup in which they play Be3, f3, Qd2, and 0-0-0 and try to mate black with a swift kingside pawnstorm. The English attack became popular in the 80s. The first strong Grandmaster who began playing it regularly was Dr. John Nunn, the top English player at the time. His use of the setup became known, and other English players, like Nigel Short and others began playing it successfully, giving it its name. 0:00 Introduction to the Najdorf Sicilian and the English Attack 01:16 Resources on the Najdorf and the English Attack 06:52 History of the English Attack 15:38 Strategy of the English Attack 30:56 Theory of the English Attack against the Najdorf 58:40 Conclusion
