The move Bd3 is a rare sideline white uses to get Najdorf players out of their main-line setups and out of their comfort zone. Objectively, the move isn't great, and it should give Black immediate equality. It does, however, prevent Black from playing in typical Najdorf Fashion with e5, since Bd3 introduces a strategic pattern white usually doesn't have at their disposal.
Since the bishop is no longer on f1, white can bring the knight back to e2 if e5 is played to chase it away since it wouldn't block in the bishop. That is the main reason Bd3 is a sensible move. So I think black's best is to deviate from the main setups with e5 and to play g6 instead, going for a Dragon structure in which the bishop on d3 is not a useful piece.
The Najdorf Variation of the Sicilian Defense (B90 - B99) is one of the sharpest, most heavily analyzed and most fun openings in all of chess. It can lead to completely mental positions which not many humans can completely understand. White has 11 (!) different ways of fighting the Najdorf and I will cover each in a separate video.
