At the time, it seemed like a minor side project — a short score written between Revolver and Sgt. Pepper. But behind the scenes, it marked something far more significant. In this video, we explore The Family Way as more than a forgotten soundtrack. We look at how it became the first moment the Lennon–McCartney partnership subtly shifted, how George Martin helped shape the score, why John felt excluded, and how Paul later tried — and failed — to smooth things over. We also examine the film itself, the recording sessions, the UK and US soundtrack releases, the brief battle of the singles, and the unexpected Ivor Novello Award that followed. Often treated as a footnote in the Beatles’ story, The Family Way deserves to be seen as something else entirely: the first crack in one of the most important creative partnerships in music history.
