We knocked on the door, and someone answered—but it wasn’t the homeowner. It was a roommate, and she told us if it were up to her, we could take care of the yard… but she hesitated, because she couldn’t get ahold of the person who actually owns the place. So now we’re standing there trying to figure out what to do, because technically we’ve got permission… just not from the right person. And at that point, the boys and I had a decision to make… do we walk away, or do we step in and try to help anyway. So we decided to get started. And right in the middle of working… the owner came home and told us something we didn’t expect.
