We showed up expecting a simple cleanup, but before we even got started, neighbors had already reported us. The day before, police were called to the area, and not long after we arrived, the fire marshal drove by—it was clear not everyone wanted this project to happen. But we kept going. This property is being transformed into something positive for the community, and despite the pushback, volunteers showed up from all over to help. What followed was a tough cleanup with unsafe structures, trees growing through the building, hidden debris everywhere, and muddy conditions that made everything harder. And in the middle of it all, we came across something we never expected… something we almost missed.
