By looking at his rise and fall, it remains unclear how much he truly believed in his own ideology, and how much was just political opportunism that fell into place. From relatively humble beginnings he was able to flip flop his way into increasing positions of power and influence by leveraging one talent above all others… He was exceptionally skilled at getting attention, and using it to sow discontent with… well… whatever happened to be convenient at the time…. And conveniently for him at the time… there was a lot to be discontent with in the nation that he would come to rule with an iron fist…
