Apple has acquired MotionVFX, the plugin company behind some of the best titles, transitions, effects, and tools available for Final Cut Pro. If you’ve been editing in FCP for a while, you probably know how big of a deal that is. MotionVFX plugins have filled a pretty big gap in Final Cut Pro for years when it comes to modern graphics, tracking tools, and overall flexibility. For a long time, people have been worried that Apple was slowly letting Final Cut Pro fade away. Some editors even switched to Resolve because they thought FCP didn’t really have a future. But bringing an entire team from the top Final Cut Pro plugin company into Apple definitely tells a different story. So in this video I’m sharing some thoughts on what this move might mean for Final Cut Pro. 🟢 Could MotionVFX tools eventually become built directly into FCP? 🟢 Will these features be limited to the subscription version of Final Cut? 🟢 What happens to people who already bought MotionVFX plugins? 🟢 And what might this mean for Resolve and Premiere users who rely on them? There are still a lot of unanswered questions. Apple hasn’t laid out a roadmap for how MotionVFX will fit into Final Cut Pro yet, so a lot of this is speculation based on how Apple usually handles acquisitions and ecosystem changes. But if Apple actually uses this acquisition to improve Final Cut Pro’s built-in tools, it could solve one of the biggest weaknesses the software has had for years.
