Metal Detecting Shop

Last week we started metal detecting a mid-1700s homesite and right away knew something was different. The ground felt untouched. The kind of place where every signal could be something special, and often it was! We dug some amazing and strange pieces including a sterling lizard pin, a mourning locket, a Billiken buckle, a 2lb grapeshot cannonball, and so much more including silver coins, buttons, Indian Head cents, and early American and Colonial large coppers. This week we head out into the surrounding fields… and somehow it just keeps getting better. More old coins. More early relics. And the kind of surprises that make you stop and just take it all in.
