Vans quietly released this premium take on the classic Authentic, and after taking a closer look it’s easy to see why people were excited about them. This pair reinterprets Vans’ iconic checkerboard pattern using a debossed diamond texture on premium nubuck leather, creating a look that feels almost reminiscent of the woven leather designs you might see from luxury fashion houses like Bottega Veneta. Instead of the traditional canvas upper, these feature upgraded materials including nubuck leather construction, goat skin lining, metallic eyelets, and two lace options, giving the shoe a more elevated feel while still maintaining the classic Vans DNA. In this video I break down the materials, construction, design inspiration, and styling, along with my honest thoughts on whether these are actually worth picking up.
