At first glance this still looks like a classic Old Skool, but once you start looking at the details you realize this pair is doing something very different. This version of the Style 36 upgrades the traditional design with suede and canvas layering, metallic leather side stripe, crystal and gemstone studs, premium hardware, and upgraded comfort features, giving the shoe a more elevated look while still keeping the original Vans DNA intact. Releases like this feel very much in line with the design direction Vans explored during the era of designer Greg Betty, where classic silhouettes were reinterpreted using more fashion-forward materials and textures. In this review we go over the materials, comfort, design details, styling, and overall thoughts, along with how these compare to more traditional Vans releases.
